The Essex Golf Partnership is now fully and up and running. For those
who don't know what this is about, it is an alliance between the Essex
County Golf Union, The Essex Ladies County Golf Union and Essex PGA.
The ethos of the partnership is to introduce more people to the game
of golf in our County. The partnership will provide initiatives and
promote development of the game. They will also be key to providing
a whole host of funding, particularly at grass roots level - something
all Essex PGA Professionals should be finding out more information.

| Please find entry information for the Essex PGA
Closed Championship (which incorporates the Trainee Championship and
qualifying for the Trainee Matchplay Trophy) on the calendar of events
page on this site. This event is being generously sponsored by Lords
and L.C.H and we are anticipating a total prize fund of nearly £9,000.
The pro/am will be made up virtually entirely of Lords' member teams
so we will be looking for around 25 professionals to join these teams.
Please let Suzy know as soon as possible if you would like to enter
the pro/am and the championship. |

Major disappointment for everyone with the cancellation
of the Knole Park Pro/Am. Unfortunately, this was due to severe rain
storms in Kent and the course was unfortunately closed because of
it. We are intending to reschedule this event for the Autumn.
We are launching a brand new event for February 2009 - the Portugese
Pro/Am - please find preliminary details on this link. If you are
interested please let Suzy know as soon as you can.
Full entry details for the PGA Championship at Lords Golf and Country

| Obituary - It is with great regret that we have
learnt of the death of Ray Bowen, one of our loyal amateur supports
of the Essex PGA. Ray passed away last week, after a long illness.
We all send his family our sincerest condolences. |

Thorpe Hall Golf. One of the many sponsors who supported us were Your

You will see that the Essex Open Championship starting
times are now posted. Please call the EPGA Office on 01277 223510
if you have any problems with your starting time.
Full details of the Pro/Am preceding the Open Championship on Thursday
May 15th will be available very shortly. Howver, there will be limited
availablility for this event -- please call the EPGA Office for further
details.
News - news - news
For the first time in ages we have been allocated a Mid Summer Date
for an Essex PGA Event. So, Great News! We will be holding a pro/am
on Monday July 7th at the glorious Knole Park Golf Club, near Sevenoaks
in Kent. Full details and cost will be on the site shortly but the
plan is to have a ploughmans lunch before play, tee times from 2pm,
a quick sandwick after play and then offski - sas they say!!.
Full details out soon but hopefully not more that £65 per player.

Our calendar for the Autumn - let's not think that far ahead at the
moment! - wil be out shortly but our French Pro/Am full details and
costs will be on the site ASAP.
