For the fourth year
running, we will be staying in the majestic Westminster Hotel in
Le Touquet which is simply the best Hotel in Northern France.
As you all know, this hotel is right bang on in the centre of Le
Touquet – everything is within walking distance from the
Westminster – the casino which is a popular venue for most of our
pro am teams! is virtually opposite the hotel and for those “late
nighters” there will not be any need to find a taxi as you can
easily walk - it is just so near “Le Centre Ville”!
However, you ought to know that the Westminster Hotel is fine 4
star hotel in its own right. The bedrooms are superb. The
leisure facilities are first class with indoor pool, sauna and
Jacuzzi (perfect after a round of golf). There is a full size
snooker table which we are sure will be very popular. The bar
is large. There is a great buffet style breakfast included and for
those who do not want to travel further than the hotel, there is a
fine restaurant Le Pavillon. There is also ample car parking
right in front of the hotel (as well as at the back). The
Westminster has been the fashionable “Rendez Vous” for high
society since the 1930’s. The most stylish hotel in the
region. Le Touquet has a wealth of fine restaurants which will
cater for everyone. Also, everyone we will be under one roof
so if you have a problem about anything, Suzy and John Wright
will be right there to help you. Our Legendary Champagne
Cocktail Party will take place at the Westminster on the Tuesday
evening and everyone is invited! “To be seen is to be
seen”!
As previously , the golf
courses will remain as per previous years – Day 1 and Day 2 at
Belle Dune or La Mer and on the final day we shall go up the coast
a little to Hardelot Les Pins. For the last day, we
intend to make a draw for tee times with the top scoring teams and
professionals going out at the end of the field. At the
conclusion of play on the last day, all players will be served a
decent snack meal and refreshments before they depart for the
journey home. Due to the timing of this event, we shall
have to limit our field to 30 teams and obviously priority will be
given to members of the Essex PGA. As before teams will
comprise of 1 Professional and 3 Amateurs. Travel is via the
Eurotunnel and hotel accommodation will be at the glorious
Westminster Hotel in Le Touquet. Accommodation is based on
twin room occupancy and will include breakfast. As before,
there will be various optional extras of additional nights, extra
golf and single rooms if you wish – a summary of these details is
shown below.
Our Championship will
be played over 54 holes on some fabulous golf courses, namely
Hardelot Old Le Pins, Le Touquet La Mer and Belle Dune. The
teams will be split into two groups playing Belle Dune and La Mer
on the first two days and then all teams playing Hardelot Le Pins
on the final day. Our prize giving ceremony will be at the
conclusion of play and as detailed above, all players will
be provided with a meal after their last round in the Hardelot
LE PINS superb clubhouse before their journey home. Those
players who wish to travel home once they have had some
refreshments may do so but alternatively those wishing to stay on
until the conclusion of play are more than welcome to stay.
So, to recap, all
players will be staying at the fabulous 4* Westminster Hotel in
Le Touquet. As usual, we have picked three of the best and
certainly the strongest courses in Northern France for you to
play. THERE WILL BE A DRAW FOR PLAY ON THE LAST DAY AND ALL
PLAYERS WILL PLAY AT HARDELOT LES PINS (only half an hour at the
most from the Tunnel). The draw will be posted in the Foyer
of the hotel so all players will know exactly what is going
on. Amateur prizes will be in the form of Vouchers this year
which should make it more convenient for everyone. IN THE
EVENT OF A TIE, THIS WILL BE DECIDED ON THE BACK NINE AT LES PINS.
Further full
information will be sent out with our itinerary and travel
documents approximately two weeks before departure.
